Penn State Altoona men's soccer freshman defender Jacob Weaver picked up two more awards on Tuesday for his performance last week, as the Eastern College Athletic Conference recognized him as its Division III South Region Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week.
Weaver was a key part of the Lions' (7-5-1, 3-1-1 AMCC) performance last week in a pair of important Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference games on the road.
In a 2-0 shutout at Mount Aloysius College on Wednesday afternoon, Weaver scored the game-winning goal while putting two shots on net. He was also effective defensively in limiting Mount Aloysius to just five total shots and two shots on goal.
In Saturday afternoon's 1-1 tie at Penn State Behrend, Weaver and the Lions' back line combined to hold the opponent to just three shots on goal -- the fewest Behrend has recorded against an AMCC team this season -- and one goal scored.
This is the first time in Weaver's collegiate soccer career that he has picked up weekly awards from the ECAC. On Monday, he was named the AMCC's Defensive Player of the Week.
