FERGUSON, MEYER NAMED CO-GOLFERS OF THE YEAR AS ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM IS RELEASED
Penn State Altoona sophomore Andrew Ferguson and Penn State Behrend sophomore Ryan Meyer have been named AMCC Co-Golfers of the Year.
Penn State Altoona sophomore Andrew Ferguson and Penn State Behrend sophomore Ryan Meyer have been named AMCC Co-Golfers of the Year.
Ferguson was a two time AMCC Golfer of the Week this spring with a top ten finish in every event played, including three wins. He shot the lowest score of all conference players across all regular season events, with a 72 at his home invitational. Ferguson won in a playoff at the Toftrees Challenge with par on the first hole. He also won the Behrend Invite by three shots.
Meyer led the AMCC with a 78.33 average for the season. He also won the AMCC Individual Championship with a two-day score of 149, carding his season lows of 75 and 74. Meyer tallied top ten finishes all season and was named to the AMCC All-Tournament Team for his first-place finish at the championships.
Penn State Altoona freshman Trey Heffelfinger has been tabbed as the AMCC Newcomer of the Year. Heffelfinger finished in the top ten in every event including medalist at Penn State Berks and Mount Aloysius Invites. He was the lowest scoring AMCC freshman in five of six events played (won playoff at Summit) and possesses the lowest freshman scoring average among AMCC players.
Coach of the Year honors goes to Penn State Altoona head coach Tom Koehle. Koehle led the Lions to five wins this season, as the team recorded four first place finishes in tournaments and also won a dual match during its schedule. The Lions took second place at the AMCC Championship.
