MEDAILLE'S PANEPINTO TABBED AMCC GOLFER OF THE YEAR; ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM ANNOUNCED
Medaille College senior Chuck Panepinto has been tabbed the 2018 AMCC Golfer of the Year, becoming the first player in program history to earn the honor.
Medaille College senior Chuck Panepinto has been tabbed the 2018 AMCC Golfer of the Year, becoming the first player in program history to earn the honor. Panepinto, a three-time all-conference selection, was runner-up at the 2018 AMCC Championship. During the 2018 season, he recorded one win and four runner-up performances. He was the individual medalist at the Medaille Tri-Match where he shot a season low 70, tied for the best round in the AMCC this year. He recorded runner-up finishes at Keuka, the Medaille Invitational, Hilbert, and the AMCC championship. Panepinto finished the season with the second-best average in the AMCC (77.2) by less than a tenth of a stroke. As a senior, he broke the Medaille single-season scoring record with a 77.2 average and finished the season with six top-10 performances.
Mount Aloysius College freshman Will Hoven picks up Newcomer of the Year honors. Hoven had a 78 scoring average for the year, which tied him for sixth-best in the conference during the regular season. He tied for first place with a 77 at the Westminster Invitational. Hoven also displayed a great showing at the two-day Mountain Classic with scores of 76-77-153. The rookie continued to display hard work and determination throughout the rest of the season that led to a 76-79 showing at the AMCC Conference Championship, which was good for a T-5th place finish.
Coach of the Year honors goes to Pitt-Bradford head coach Keith Stauffer for the second year in a row. After finishing the regular season ranked in second place as a team with a 319 scoring average, Stauffer led the Panthers to the school's first golf title since 2002.
