Niland averaged 20 points last week to help his team pick up two Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) victories. The Lions handed La Roche their first conference loss on Wednesday, defeating the Redhawks 86-84. Niland scored a season-high 24 points in the win after shooting 46.7 percent from the floor and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. He then added 16 more on Saturday in a 40-point win over Franciscan. Niland shot 66.7 percent and drained two three's.

BEST OF THE REST: PS-Altoona F Jordan Smith had a big week to help the Lions go 2-0 in AMCC playand lead Penn State Altoona to its first sweep of Hilbert since 2009-2010 and tie its longest winning streak in program history, Smith shot an excellent 76.0% from the field and averaged 21.0 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game, and 2.0 steals per game...Medaille F Mike Hollenbeck was a force for the Mavericks last week, helping Medaille go 2-0 and climb to the top of the AMCC standings, as he earned another double-double against D'Youville on Wednesday, going for 21 points and 10 rebounds all while shooting 61.5% from the floor and followed that up with 16 and eight against Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday in just 25 minutes of action...Pitt-Bradford G Fateem Brockington scored the game-winning basket with five seconds left to knock off La Roche as he finished the week averaging 15.5 points and 3.5 assists per game...D'Youville F Juan Miguel Rosales scored a career and team high 16 points against Medaille, shooting 7-9 from the field, and adding six rebounds, a steal and a block and followed that up against Mt. Aloysius when he scored 12 points on 6-10 shooting and helped anchor a defense that got back on the winning track...Hilbert G Derrek Carman led the Hawks to a 1-1 record this week, averaging 16.5 points and eight rebounds per contest, shooting 12-23 from the field, and 9-12 from the foul line...La Roche G RayQuan Phifer averaged 19 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals in two games last week.
