CONFERENCE STANDOUTS SHINE AS AMCC RELEASES MEN'S HOOPS ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
Pitt-Greensburg senior forward Trent Rozich has been named the AMCC Men's Basketball Player of the Year. He started in all 25 contests, scoring in double digits in every game. He recorded four double-doubles and a triple-double on the season. Rozich led Pitt-Greensburg in minutes per game (33.6), points per game (16.8), rebounds per game (7.0) and total assists (112). He was second on the team in blocks and third on the team in steals, finishing the regular season fifth in the AMCC in points per game, fourth in rebounds per game, fourth in field goal percentage and second in assists.
La Roche University sophomore forward Major Rainey has earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. Rainey had a breakout campaign in his first season as a starter and was a big defensive threat. Rainey closed out the regular season as the AMCC leader in blocks with 1.9 per game and 47 total for the season, a 12 block edge over second place. His 28 blocks and 1.8 per game line led the AMCC during conference play, as well. Rainey was also a major force on the glass, finishing the season averaging 6.8 rebounds per game in AMCC play (6th) and his 6.4 per game for the season and 161 total rebounds also placed sixth. Rainey also contributed 17 total steals on the season and had four double-doubles.
Penn State Behrend freshman forward Jacob Dunkle has been tabbed as the Newcomer of the Year. Dunkle finished the regular season ranked second in the conference in field-goal percentage (57.4 percent), third in rebounds per game (7.8) and sixth in points per game (16.6). He scored double-figure points in 21 out of the 25 games, posted five double-doubles this season and scored 20 or more points in nine games. He led the team in scoring in 15 games as a freshman, ranking eighth in scoring in the 15 conference games with 16.6 points and was third in rebounds per game with 7.9.
Coach of the Year honors goes to Penn State Behrend head coach Dave Niland. Niland earns his eighth Coach of the Year nod as he led Behrend Lions to an AMCC regular season title with a 14-2 conference record.
