After missing the entire 2020-21 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, AMCC basketball players and coaches are more eager than ever for the start of a new season. AMCC coaches expect La Roche University to pick up right where they left off, as the Redhawks have been selected to finish at the top of conference standings. Penn State Behrend is expected to finish in second, with Pitt-Greensburg coming in third.
Behrend senior G Kenny Fukon has been named the AMCC Preseason Player of the Year. Fukon was an AMCC all-conference first team selection in 2019-20. Fukon was also named the Team Most Valuable Player and was a member of the Academic All-AMCC team. He led the team in scoring and ranked fifth overall in the AMCC with 16.7 points per game, registered 467 points on the season. Fukon ranked third in the conference in field goals (171), dished out 81 assists and made 37 steals for seventh in the league.
The AMCC Championship will be held Saturday, February 26 at the site of the number one seed, with the winner earning the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
