D'Youville College senior Jeremy VanDuluitgaarden became just the fifth player in D'Youville men's basketball program history to join the 1,000-point club.
VanDuluitgaarden scored his 1,000th point against Lewis & Clark on December 12 with a made layup and free throw on his way to 21 points, his third game of scoring 21 or more points this season.
Beginning his freshman season, VanDuluitgaarden has been a premier scorer for the Spartans. He began his career by averaging 9.6 PPG, third on the team overall. He also finished third with a 41.1 FG% and 35.0 three-point percentage on his way to being named the team's Most Improved Player.
From there, the 6-foot-6 guard has only gotten better. As a sophomore he averaged a then career high 14.6 PPG to lead the Spartans to go with a 44.2 FG%. He recorded 22 games of double-figure scoring, including 18 of the final 19 games. At the end of the season, VanDuluitgaarden was named an AMCC third team all-conference player and the team's Most Valuable Player.
In his junior season, he missed considerable time due to injury but he was still one of the premier players in the conference. He averaged 14.1 PPG, scored double-figures 13 times, and had three games of 20 or more points.
As a senior this year, VanDuluitgaarden currently averages a career-high 18.6 PPG, has scored double-figures in eight of nine games, has already scored 20 or more points four times, recorded a career high 32 points, and leads the conference in scoring and is fourth in rebounding. His uptick in scoring and rebounding have come in part to his role as the team's inside presence. A typical permitter player, VanDuluitgaarden has found himself in the paint a bulk of the time and has flourished in his new role.
