La Roche College (3-0) travels to Buffalo, NY this Saturday to take on D'Youville College (2-0) in the AMCC men's basketball game of the week. The Redhawks and Spartans are two of three teams in the AMCC that remain unbeaten on the young season.
After dropping the first game of the season, La Roche has won five straight and boasts a perfect 3-0 record in conference play. The defending AMCC champions are led by Preseason Player of the Year, senior guard Ray Quan Phifer. Pfiher ranks second in the conference with 17.8 points per game, while sophomore forward Tyler Frederick is fourth in the league with 8.3 rebounds per game. In addition to Phifer's 17.8 points per game, the Redhawks run a balanced offense as Zach Gould (14.7), Tyler Frederick (12.7), and Austin Hannes (10.3) all average double figures, as well.
The Spartans, winners of three straight games, enter the game of the week with a 2-0 conference record. Senior guard Jeremy VanDuluitgaarden leads the conference with 19.8 points per game and is third with 8.4 rebounds per game. Simeon Heard (11.6) and Grant Beyer (11.0) also contribute double digit scoring, while freshman guard Devon Darrell leads D'Youville with 3.6 assists per game.
