AMCC Men's Basketball Game of the Week:
Penn State Behrend @ Mount Aloysius College
Reschduled for Monday, January 21 at 7:00 p.m.
The second place Penn State Behrend (7-2) men's basketball team will travel to Cresson, Pa. to take on third place Mount Aloysius College (6-3) in the AMCC Men's Basketball Game of the Week at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
The Lions are back to conference play after taking a break from AMCC action to pick up a non-conference win on Tuesday against Alfred State. The win gives Behrend a perfect non-conference record at 7-0 during the regular season. Senior guard Andy Niland went off for a career-high 31 points behind six triples. Sophomore forward Nolan Nuara posted a double-double with 10 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. Behrend remains in second place behind La Roche College in the AMCC with a 7-2 record. The Lions hold three of the top five spots in field-goal percentage in the AMCC. Senior forward Justin Gorny ranks third in AMCC contests with 17.3 points over the last nine games.
The Mount Aloysius men's basketball team sits in third place through the first rotation of conference games. They are 5-0 on their home court this season and will play their next three conference games at home. Junior guard Julian Stover has led the Mounties in scoring this season averaging 14.4 points per game while Nate Christian has led the charge in the last three games for the Mounties averaging over 18 points per game in the stretch. The Mounties success this season comes mainly from their tough defense which has allowed AMCC opponents to average 62.1 points per game, which tops the league.
This will be the second of two meetings between Behrend and Mt. Aloysius this season. The Lions defeated the Mounties 54-45 on Dec. 16 to improve their overall record to 27-3 vs. Mt. Aloysius. The Mounties' last win over the Lions was a 99-97 victory on December 8, 2012.
