As we officially enter the month of February and approach the end of the regular season, basketball season heats up as teams begin to set their sights on the postseason, and ultimately, the top seed and hosting rights for the AMCC tournament. La Roche College (15-5, 12-1 AMCCC) is hot, riding the conference's longest winning streak with nine straight AMCC victories. Their only conference loss of the year came at the hands of the Medaille College (12-8, 9-4 AMCC)Mavericks on December 16. The Mavs won seven straight in the month of January, but that month also saw bookend losses to Penn State Behrend to open and close out the month. La Roche is currently tied with Penn State Behrend atop the AMCC conference standings.

Medaille dropped a close one to Penn State Behrend on Wednesday, snapping their season-best seven game winning streak that started all the way back on January 6. They have won eight of their last 10 games, with their only two losses both coming to the Lions by a combined six points. Senior guard Jalen Smith was named the AMCC player of the Week last week after averaging over 20 points a game against Hilbert and Penn State Altoona. Smith was one of three Mavericks to score in double figures on Wednesday, as Medaille looks to start a new streak on Saturday.
La Roche senior forward Arnes Bajgora has been a force recently. He is averaging 24.5 points and 11.5 rebounds over the past two games and has climbed into fifth in La Roche's all-time scoring and rebounding lists. Sophomore guard Trell Thomas and junior guard RayQuan Phifer provide a strong scoring attack. Thomas ranks second in the AMCC at 16.2 points per game and Phifer is seventh at 14.3 points per game. Phifer also ranks in the AMCC top ten in blocks and steals. La Roche is the top rebounding team in the AMCC. They average 78.5 points per game while conceding just 67.2 points to opponents.
