La Roche College enters the AMCC Game of the Week with a 5-3 overall record and a perfect 2-0 record in conference play. Hilbert College, defending AMCC regular season champion, comes in with a 4-4 overall record and is 1-2 against conference opponents. The Redhawks will be looking for revenge as the Hawks swept the series 2-0 last season.
The Redhawks combine a strong inside-out presence. Junior center Arnes Bajgora was the 2015 AMCC Newcomer of the Year and an all-conference second team selection last season. He has scored in double-figures in four straight games and hit 7 of 10 field goals against Pitt-Bradford. Sophomore guard RayQuan Phifer is quickly becoming one of the better all-around players in the conferece. He currently ranks second in the AMCC in free throws, fourth in points, seventh in field goals, and eleventh in assists.. Sophomore point guard Zach Gould has been golden from three-point distance. He ranks second in the AMCC hitting nearly half of his shots from distance.
The Hawks enter the game of the week after dropping their most recent game to Penn St. Altoona. Junior guard Jalen Smith, a 2016 all-conference third team selection, ranks second in the conference in points, pouring in 20.3 points per game, and is fourth with 8.6 rebounds per game. Junior forward Derrek Carman sits thirteenth in the conference with 13.9 points per game and sixth with 7.4 rebounds per game.
