MEDAILLE'S BELTON WINS SPOT IN REESE'S D-III ALL-STAR GAME

The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and D3hoops.com concluded their fan vote for the 2017 Reese's Division III College All–Star Game, a vote that sends the top two vote getters to Salem, Virginia during Final Four weekend. After 48 hours, and with over 17,500 votes, Medaille College senior guard Johnathan Belton has earned a spot in the Reese's D-III All-Star Game.
 
20 of the top seniors in the country participate in the Reese's D-III College All-Star Game, coming from schools all around the country. This is the first time that a Medaille athlete will be participating in the Reese's D-III College All-Star Game, but will be the second season in a row the AMCC will make an appearance. Last season Penn State-Behrend's Zane Hackett ended his college career in the Reese's D-III All-Star Game.
 
Belton had a career year for the Mavericks, helping Medaille win 21 games, capturing the AMCC regular season and tournament championships, and advance to the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
Belton scored a career high 503 points during his senior campaign; averaging 18 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 3.3 steals per contest. On February 8 against Pitt-Bradford he became just the 11th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points, and his 91 total steals this year rank number one in the entire country. For his efforts the AMCC recognized Belton as not only the Conference Player of the Year, but also the Conference Defensive Player of the Year, the first time in AMCC men's basketball history one person has won both awards. 
 
That accomplishment come just one season after he posted a 4.2 assist to turnover ratio as a junior, ranking him third in the nation in that category.
 
The Reese's D-III College All-Star Game will take place on Saturday, March 18 In Salem, Virginia prior to the D-III National Championship game.
