With only two weeks remaining in the regular season, the AMCC men's basketball game of the week features two teams fighting for the final playoff spot. Sixth-place Pitt-Bradford (7-14, 6-8 AMCC) will be traveling to Buffalo, NY, to take on seventh-place D'Youville College. With only six teams advancing to the AMCC postseason tournament, the Spartans will be looking to knock the Panthers out the final playoff spot. The last time the two teams played, the Panthers dominated the Spartans in the first half, and hung on for a 77-62 victory at the KOA Arena.
The Pitt-Bradford men's basketball team looks to get back on track Wednesday night in a key AMCC showdown at D'Youville. The Panthers are coming off a tough loss at Penn State Altoona where the Lions shot nearly 60 percent in the second half. Junior forward Evan Greening leads the Panthers, as well as the conference, in points per game (19.5) and rebounds per game (11.5.). Senior guard Eric Matheson is second in the league in scoring, averaging 19.3 points per game. Junior guard Manny Welch follows with 11.1 ppg and sophomore guard Sahlil Harris chips in with 7.4 points per game off of the Panthers bench.
The D'Youville men's basketball team enters Wednesday's game against the Pitt-Bradford Panthers following their 91-83 defeat of the Mount Aloysius Mounties on Saturday. Senior guard Marcus Clarke is the team's leader in several statistics, including points (12.8), assists (3.2) and minutes (26.6) per game. Freshmen Jeremy VanDuluitgaardan and Jake Socha have provided a rookie scoring punch for the Spartans, each ranking in the top five on the team in points per game and field goal percentage, while Socha leads the team in rebounds per game (5.1). Veteran leaders, senior guard/forward Nate Sweetman and senior forward Jon Gemerek also add leadership and scoring to a young Spartans lineup. With a win against Bradford on Wednesday, D'Youville will stay alive in the AMCC Playoff race after making the playoffs as the sixth seed last season.
