Former Pitt-Bradford men’s basketball player Brandon McClester was selected by the Rochester RazorSharks in the first round of the 2014 Premier Basketball League Draft on Monday, September 8.
The PBL is a professional basketball minor league based out of Chicago, IL, that began play in January 2008. In the past, there have also been teams representing the league in Canada and Puerto Rico. The RazorSharks were founded in 2005 as a member of the American Basketball Association and remained in the ABA until 2007. At that time, they became a founding member of the PBL.
McClester, a standout at Pitt-Bradford from 2010-2014, played his final season in a Panther uniform last year. He started a total of 55 games during his four-year career, while making 83 appearances on the floor. He finished with 738 points, 321 rebounds and 73 assists. McClester also tacked on 117 steals and 30 blocks.
“I’m proud of Brandon for being selected by Rochester in the PBL Draft“, said Pitt-Bradford head basketball coach Britt Moore. “He really worked hard to become a better player in the last three seasons and that hard work has paid off. It’s always exciting to get the opportunity to continue to play the game of basketball and I know Brandon can’t wait.”
The league office notes that teams will begin reaching out to their newest members to enter the contract negotiation phase. Training camp will begin shortly thereafter in preparation for the 2014-15 season.
