#3 PITT-GREENSBURG, #5 MOUNT ALOYSIUS EARN WINS ON DAY ONE OF BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
#5 seed Mount Aloysius College earned the 12-4 upset victory over #4 Alfred State College in game one of the AMCC Baseball Championship Tournament, while #3 Pitt-Greensburg defeated #6 Pitt-Bradford 11-4 in the night cap.

No. 5 seed Mt. Aloysius broke things open with a big fourth inning and never looked back, rolling to a 12–4 win over No. 4 Alfred State in game one of the AMCC Baseball Championship Tournament.
After falling behind 1–0 on an unearned run in the third, the Mounties erupted for five runs in the fourth inning, capitalizing on multiple Alfred State errors to take a 5–1 lead. They continued to add on with a three-run sixth and steady production late to pull away.
Mount Aloysius tallied 14 hits on the day, led by Logan Quade (2-for-5, 3 RBI), Sidric Grove (3-for-6, 2 runs, RBI), Tyler Alexander (3-for-5, 2 runs, RBI), and Michael Todd (3-for-5, 2 runs, RBI). Jack Foster also drove in two runs.
Alfred State showed life in the sixth with back-to-back home runs from Jordan Hughes (two-run shot) and Sean Connor, cutting the deficit to 8–4, but they would get no closer.
On the mound, Scott Ranallo earned the win for Mount Aloysius, tossing seven innings while allowing four runs (three earned) and striking out eight. Mason Gearhart closed the door with two scoreless innings of relief.
Mount Aloysius now advances in the winners bracket to face #1 Penn State Behrend at 1:00 Thursday afternoon.
#3 Pitt-Greensburg d. #6 Pitt-Bradford, 11-4
#3 Pitt-Greensburg used a six-run third inning to pull away for an 11-4 victory over #6 Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday in game two of the baseball championship tournament.
After trading runs through the first two innings, Pitt-Greensburg broke the game open in the third with six runs on six hits. Colby Rearick sparked the rally with a two-run double, while William Somers and Tommy Smith each delivered RBI singles. Somers finished with a game-high four RBIs on two hits.
The Bobcats connected on 16 hits in the win, with Hunter Gideons and Colin Solinski collecting three hits apiece. Rearick added two RBIs and two runs scored, while Smith drove in two runs.
Pitt-Bradford was led offensively by Alex Ognen, who doubled and drove in two runs, and Grant Casses, who hit a solo homer in the seventh inning. Alan Compres also added an RBI single for the Panthers.
On the mound, Landon Huth earned the win for Pitt-Greensburg, as five Bobcat pitchers limited Pitt-Bradford to six hits and struck out nine.
With the win, Pitt-Greensburg will square off with #2 Hilbert College in the 4:00pm winners bracket game. Pitt-Bradford will face Alfred State in the 10:00am elimination game Thursday morning.
