The AMCC baseball game of the week features a showdown of the leagues top two teams in La Roche College (18-5-1, 7-1 AMCC) and Pitt-Greensburg (15-8, 8-2 AMCC). The Redhawks have won four straight conference games since dropping an 11-9 decision to Hilbert College on April 6. The Bobcats have won seven of their past eight conference games, but split their most recent double-header to Pitt-Bradford. Both teams enter Wednesday's games looking to hold onto or obtain the top spot in conference standings.
La Roche leads the conference in runs scored with 188 on the season and has recorded a league-best .353 batting average. The Redhawks are led offensively by catcher Joe Professori and OF Jonathan Spina, who rank sixth and seventh in the conference with .415 and .414 batting averages. Spina also has 12 stolen bases on the year, while OF Dylan Urban leads the conference with 18. On the mound, Tre Thomas leads the conference with a .83 ERA in 32.2 innings pitched. He is also tied for second with four wins and is tied for third with 45 strikeouts.
Pitt-Greensburg boasts an AMCC-leading 33 home runs, while the next closest team has 15, and is second behind the Redhawks with 186 runs scored. Freshman first baseman Reno Rainey leads the conference with a .472 batting average and is third in the AMCC with six home runs. Senior outfielder Mike Parlak leads the conference with 10 home runs and is second with 30 RBI this season. Freshman Andy Prentice leads the Bobcats with four wins on the mound while freshman Ben Green is tied for first in the league with three saves.
