LOU ZADECKY ANNOUNED AS DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS AT PITT-GREENSBURG
The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg is pleased to announce that Lou Zadecky is the new director of athletics at the Hempfield Township campus. Zadecky's first day was Sept. 22, and he brings more than 12 years of experience in that role from a mix of public and private institutions.
Most recently, Zadecky served as the director of athletics at Carlow University, a position he has held since 2021. There he managed all aspects of the university's NCAA Division III and United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) athletic programs. This included managing the university's sponsored sports teams, the majority of which compete in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC). While at Carlow University, Zadecky's program was named the AMCC Institutional Peak Performer Champion (2023-2024), and it received the AMCC Peak Performer Team Award (14 team awards over two years, 2023-2025).
At Pitt-Greensburg, Zadecky will manage 13 sponsored sports teams that compete at the NCAA Division III level and in the AMCC. The Bobcats field teams in men's baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, and tennis, as well as women's basketball, bowling, cross country, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball. This past spring, the women's softball team claimed their first AMCC Championship and made their first appearance in the NCAA Division Regional Tournament. During the past 10 years, two other Pitt-Greensburg teams have competed in the NCAA Division III Tournaments for their sports, including the women's soccer team (2019 and 2022), and the women's tennis team (2021, 2022, and 2023).
In addition to serving as director of athletics at Penn State University Fayette (2014-2021), Zadecky has 25 years of coaching experience at the college, high school, and professional levels. This includes head women's basketball coach at Penn State University Greater Allegheny (2011-2014) where he was named the PSUAC Coach of the Year (2013-2014) and the Penn State Greater Allegheny Coach of the Year (2012-2013). The team also was ranked in the top twelve nationally ( 2012-2013, 2013-2014) under his direction.
He currently serves on the USCAA Compliance and Eligibility Committee (2023-present), USCAA Division I Women's Volleyball and Basketball Selection Committee (2021-present).
Zadecky is a graduate of PennWest Edinboro where he earned a BS in health and physical educations, recreation, dance, fitness, and sports coaching. He also holds an MS in sport management and administration from PennWest California.
