AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR APRIL 22-28, 2024
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's and women's track & field, men's baseball and women's softball for the period running from April 22-28, 2024.

Softball (Player): Carlow SS/2B McKenna Pierce had a huge week at the plate, going 14-for-24 (.583) with three doubles, a triple and two home runs. She recorded 13 RBI and 10 runs scored on the week. In AMCC action, she was 8-for-14 (.571) with two doubles, a triple and five RBI as the Celtics went 5-1 (3-1 AMCC).
Softball (Pitcher): PS-Altoona SO Madalyn Maynard won all four games she pitched in last week for the Lions, as her team posted a 4-1 week of play against AMCC opponents Mount Aloysius and Hilbert and a single game against non-conference foe Juniata. In four total appearances consisting of two starts and two relief appearances, Madalyn compiled a 4-0 record with two complete games, a 1.84 ERA, and nine strikeouts for an average of 3.32 strikeouts per seven innings.
Baseball (Player): Hilbert 1B Patrick Whelan logged five multi-hit games this past week for the Hawks. The Hilbert first baseman reached base safely in 15 of 24 plate appearances, tallying 10 hits, four of which going for extra bases. Whelan finished the week batting an impressive .526 with a .640 on base percentage and .842 slugging percentage. He smacked three doubles and a home run while adding eight RBI, six runs scored and stole two bases.
Baseball (Pitcher): La Roche SR Casey Jones was the driving force in La Roche's postseason clinching victory in game two against Alfred State on Sunday. The graduate student put the Redhawks on his back, tossing a complete game, allowing seven hits and one unearned run to go alongside no walks and nine strikeouts, as well as picking up three defensive assists and a WHIP of 0.78.
Women's Track & Field (Track): Carlow SR Molly Wagner led the way with two first place finishes in the 100 and 200. She broke the meet record in the 200 with a time of 26.16, besting the previous record (26.44) set by Loren Winters from Mississippi University for Women in 2022. Wagner was also part of the 4x100 relay team that placed first with their best time this season of 50.79. Every Carlow women's outdoor track & field athlete placed in the top-10 in their respective events to help lift the Celtics to a second-place finish at the USCAA Championship Saturday.
Women's Track & Field (Field): Carlow FR Sydney Taylor broke the meet record in triple jump with a personal best distance of 10.63 meters to place first in the event. Taylor also snagged a personal best with a second-place leap of 4.67 meters in long jump. She was also part of the 4x100 relay team that placed first. Every single Carlow University women's outdoor track & field athlete placed in the top-10 in their respective events to help lift the Celtics to a second-place finish at the USCAA Championship Saturday.
Men's Track & Field (Track): Carlow SR Bryan Pan led the way with a second-place finish in the 100 with a personal best time of 11.25. Pan ran 23.48 to place third in the 200 and broke his previous school record in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.50 to finish fifth. He was also part of the 4x100 relay team that placed third with a time of 46.67. Carlow placed
ninth of 14 teams at the USCAA National Championship, hosted by American International College Saturday.
Men's Track & Field (Field): PS-Behrend SR Ryan Festa secured a win at Saint Francis with a season-best height of 14-9 in the pole vault.
