AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR SEPTEMBER 6-11, 2022
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's & women's soccer, cross country, men's golf, women's tennis and women's volleyball for the period running from September 6-11, 2022.

Men's Soccer (Offensive): Alfred State M Gavin Rice recorded a game-tying goal and assisted on a game-winning goal this past week. Rice assisted on the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win over Penn College before scoring the game-tying goal in a 1-1 draw against SUNY Cobleskil. He tallied ten total shots against SUNY Cobleskill and helped lead the Pioneers to an undefeated 1-0-1 week.
Men's Soccer (Defensive): PS-Behrend GK Sam York was named to the Mt. Union Invitational All-Tournament Team for helping the Lions go undefeated over the weekend. He made five saves over two games, posting his third shutout of the season against the Purple Raiders in the championship game.
Women's Soccer (Offensive): Pitt-Greensburg F Megan Hickey scored three goals, including two game-winning goals, in a week that the Bobcats went 2-1. Hickey has been the leader of the offense for UPG as she leads the team in goals.
Women's Soccer (Defensive): Hilbert D Hannah Brock played every minute of the season so far and has been a beast in the air, as a ball winner and organizing the team defensively. This past week, Brock helped lead the Hawks to a 0-0 tie against SUNY Poly and followed that up with a 4-1 win over Morrisville State.
Men's Golf: PS-Altoona JR Trey Heffelfinger made his season debut for the Lions, shooting a 1-under par 71 during the first round of The Gauntlet at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course. His score tied him for fourth place individually in a field of 75 competitors heading into day two.
Women's Volleyball (Offensive): PS-Behrend OH Hannah Phillips was selected to the Behrend Invitational All-Tournament Team for collecting 51 kills and 50 digs over the three matches. She led the Lions to a 3-1 week, averaging 3.33 kills and 3.28 digs per set. Phillips tallied double-doubles in each match this weekend, knocking down a season-best 22 kills against Grove City.
Women's Volleyball (Defensive): PS-Altoona OH Lacee Barnhart led Penn State Altoona in digs in each of the Lions' matches last week. In a five-set loss at home to Geneva on Wednesday, the junior recorded a team-high 28 digs. During Friday's 3-0 victory over Penn College, she had a team-best 13 digs while also adding two block assists. On the week, Barnhart totaled 41 digs (5.13 digs per set) and two blocks (0.25 blocks per set).
Women's Tennis: Pitt-Greensburg JR Emily Ruhlman dominated tough competition for the first two AMCC matches of the season. She defeated Behrend's No. 1 after falling behind 0-40 twice, as she went on to win 6-3, 6-1 after picking up the 8-3 win in doubles plage. Ruhlman also earned victories in the top spots against Penn State Altoona, as she got the 8-2 doubles victory before going on to earn a 6-2, 6-2 victory in singles play.
Men's Cross Country: Hilbert SO Kenny Trometer ran a disciplined, intelligent race against largely Division II competition, as he crossed the finish line in 32:08.
Women's Cross Country: Hilbert SO Avery Cusack improved on last week's time by 1:30. She paced the team and led by example against Division II talent, as she crossed the finish line in 23:40.
