AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR APRIL 17-23, 2023
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's baseball and women's softball for the period running from April 17-23, 2023.

Baseball (Player): Hilbert OF Thomas Evans was electric yet again this past week for Hilbert, hitting home runs in three of the Hawks' four games to help lift Hilbert to a 3-1 record. On Wednesday afternoon, Evans hit a pair of home runs at Alfred State. Then, he followed it up with a pair of home runs against Penn State Altoona, including a walk-off two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth of game two. After trailing 15-6 by the middle of the ninth, Hilbert rallied for the 16-15 win off Thomas' home run. Evans finished the week batting .571 with an astounding 1.643 slugging percentage and 2.310 OPS. The junior finished the week with eight hits including three doubles and four home runs. Evans scored nine runs, added seven RBI, drew a pair of walks and stole a base as well. Defensively, he posted a 1.000 fielding percentage, making 16 putouts over 16 total chances. Evans now leads the AMCC in runs scored (45), triples (5), extra base hits (30) and stolen bases (12).
Baseball (Pitcher): Mount Aloysius SO Chris Hasse had a strong week, helping the Mounties to both of their wins against Pitt-Greensburg. In Game One, he came on in relief and tossed 1.1 innings, tallying two strikeouts, and picking up the save. In Game Two, he earned the victory, again in relief, going 1.2 scoreless innings. He issued two walks and allowed two hits, but stranded them all and earned the win in the much-needed AMCC sweep. For the week, Hasse earned a win and a save while striking out four and recording a 0.0 ERA.
Softball (Player): Mount Aloysius UTIL Anna Peterman played a huge part in the Mounties' 4-0 week, hitting an eye-popping .778 and slugging 1.444. The sophomore hit the first two home runs of her career, while also driving in eight total runs. She went 7-for-9 and picked up two or more hits in all three games she played in. In the Mounties' doubleheader sweep of Pitt-Greensburg, Peterman went 5-for-5 with a homerun and five RBIs. She currently leads the AMCC in hitting, batting .489 overall and .591 in conference play.
Softball (Pitcher): PS-Altoona SO Madison Peters had a 3-0 week in three pitching appearances for the Lions against AMCC opponents. In game one at La Roche on Wednesday, she pitched a complete game and allowed only three hits and one run while striking out four batters. In game two against the Redhawks, she entered in relief and pitched the final two innings, posting a scoreless performance and recording four strikeouts to earn another win. In game one against Hilbert on Friday at home, Peters pitched a complete game, one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts. On the week, the sophomore right-hander went 3-0 with a 0.50 ERA, pitching 14 innings, allowing four hits, one run, and no walks, and registering 16 strikeouts.
