AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR MARCH 20-26, 2023
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's volleyball, baseball, tennis, and women's softball for the period running from March 20-26, 2023.

Men's Tennis: Mount Aloysius SR Cole Kazmierczyk helped the Mounties to a 3-1 record by grabbing six of eight possible points on the week, including a perfect 4-0 record in singles play. Two of his four singles victories came with a third set tiebreaker fashion. He earned victories against Lycoming and Pitt-Greensburg that way, all at #1 Singles. At #1 Doubles, he was part of a 2-2 duo that won twice and lost another, 8-7.
Men's Volleyball (Offensive): Geneva OH Jake Williams led Geneva to three victories this past week, finishing with 37 kills (3.7 k/s) on a .441 hitting percentage. He also added 11 aces (1.10 sa/s) and 21 digs (2.10 d/s) over the three matches. He finished the week with 50.5 points (5.0 pts/s). He was particularly strong in the two AMCC wins, finishing with 28 kills (4.67 k/s) on a .511 hitting percentage, averaging 5.8 pts/s.
Men's Volleyball (Defensive): Geneva DS Joshua Sangrey had a career-best 19 digs (6.33 d/s) in an important sweep of Thiel on Saturday. For the week in Geneva's three victories, he finished with 43 digs (4.50 d/s).
Softball (Player): Pitt-Bradford 2B Daytona Wentzel hit .556 over four games for Pitt-Bradford last week. She was 5-for-9 with two RBI, one run scored, and one stolen base. Wentzel reached base at a .545 clip and slugged .667. She also had a flawless week in the field.
Softball (Pitcher): La Roche FR Kennedi Winslow saw the start in the circle in two contests last week for a total of 11 innings pitched. The freshman went face-to-face with defending PAC Champs, the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets, for all seven innings in game one this past Wednesday. She not only squared off with the team for the entire seven innings, but she also came out with a win. Winslow only gave up one earned run in her contest on Wednesday, and in all gave up four hits and two runs throughout the course of the contest. During her time spent in the circle last week, she dished out five strikeouts and finished with an ERA this week of 1.91.
Baseball (Player): Hilbert OF Thomas Evans was electric at the plate this past week, recording multi-hit games in all six of Hilbert's contests, including a three-hit performance in the Hawks' 14-6 win on Monday over Medaille. Evans posted an outstanding .542 batting average, .958 slugging percentage and 1.565 OPS while recording six extra base hits, including a home run. He scored nine runs, logged eight RBI and stole five bases. Evans reached based in 17 of his 28 plate appearances on the week, good for a .607 on base percentage. After his strong performance this past week, the Hawks outfielder currently sits in the top five in the AMCC in hits (2nd), extra base hits (2nd), total bases (2nd), triples (2nd), home runs (3rd), stolen bases (3rd) and runs (4th).
Baseball (Pitcher): Pitt-Greensburg FR Nathan Mankoski started two games for the Bobcats and earned two wins, giving up just one earned run over 12 innings. He pitched to eight strikeouts, including six against Bethany. Mankoski went the distance against Penn State Altoona, earning a complete game victory over the Lions. He recorded a 0.75 ERA on the week.
