AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR FEBRUARY 20-26, 2023
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's volleyball, baseball, and tennis for the period running from February 20-26, 2023.
Men's Volleyball (Offensive): Geneva MB Byron Spear played in two of Geneva's three victories this week and finished with 32 kills (4.00 k/s) on a .259 hitting percentage. He added 21 digs (2.38 d/s) and four blocks (0.50 b/s) in the two wins, finishing with 35.0 points (4.4 pts/s).
Men's Volleyball (Defensive): Geneva MB Carter Milroy had a strong week blocking in three Geneva victories. He had a career-high nine blocks in a five-set win over SUNY Potsdam on Saturday, and for the week he finished with 15 blocks (1.36 b/s) while adding 20 kills on a .333 hitting percentage along with nine digs and four aces.
Baseball (Player): Pitt-Bradford C/INF Evan Fragela hit .500 over the weekend as the Panthers split four games with Bethany. He totaled eight hits, five runs, four RBI and a stolen base over the four games. In the opening win, he was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, and drove in the eventual game-winning runs on a two-out, two-run single.
Baseball (Pitcher): PS-Behrend SR Derrick Shields struck out a career-high 13 batters over six innings of work in a 6-5 win against Dominican. He allowed three unearned runs on four hits, while walking four. He left in the sixth inning, with a 0.0 ERA, and the Lions ahead by two runs at the time.
Men's Tennis: PS-Behrend FR Ratvik Nadikude went 2-0 in No. 1 singles and doubles competition this weekend. He did not surrender a set point in singles vs. W&J. Nadikude is on a five-match winning streak in singles and doubles.
