AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR FEBRUARY 6-12, 2023
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's & women's basketball and men's volleyball for the period running from February 6-12, 2023.

Women's Basketball: Pitt-Greensburg G Sidney McCully led the Bobcats to a 2-0 week in conference play last week, as she played 36.5 minutes per game, averaging a double-double over the two games. McCully helped her team to win over Penn State Altoona on Wednesday night by scoring 23 points and grabbing 13 rebounds, while also adding five assists, eight steals, and a block. In a win over Pitt-Bradford on Saturday, McCully once again poured in 23 points to go along with nine rebounds, nine assists, and three steals. For the week, she averaged 23 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, and 5.5 steals while only giving away 1.5 turnovers per game. She shot 51.5 percent from the floor and went 10-for-12 from the free-throw line.
Men's Basketball: Mount Aloysius G Will Hagwood led the Mounties to a 1-1 week, including their first AMCC victory of the season. Over the week, he averaged 23.0 points and 9.0 rebounds, while also adding 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He capped the week off with a 36 point, 13 rebound, double-double performance, where he shot 50% from the field and went 13-for-14 from the free throw line. It was the most points scored in a game by a Mountie this season and is Hagwood's career-high. Hagwood currently ranks sixth in scoring and second in rebounding in the AMCC.
Men's Volleyball (Offensive): Hiram S Matthew Albano recorded a career-high 36 assists against Penn State Altoona on Tuesday and then set a new career-high with 38 assists against Wells on Saturday, averaging 9.25 assists per set on the week. His seven service aces against Penn State Altoona also marked a career-best mark.
Men's Volleyball (Defensive): Geneva MB Byron Spear had a solid week of play on both sides of the net last week. He recorded 21 digs, including 16 of those in conference play, to average 2.63 digs per set overall, and 3.20 per set against his conference opponent. He also recorded five blocks on the week. Spear also contributed in a big way on the offensive side, as well. He finished with a career-high 19 kills in a five-set victory over Medaille on Saturday, hitting .333 while adding 16 digs in the win. In Geneva's two matches last week Spear finished with 32 kills (4.00 k/s) on a .375 hitting percentage, adding 21 digs (2.63 d/s) and five blocks (0.63 b/s). He led the team with 35.5 pts (4.4 pts/s).
