AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR OCTOBER 15-21
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, women's tennis, women's volleyball, and men's and women's swimming & diving for the period running from October 15-21, 2018.

Men's Soccer (Offensive): Medaille M Mitchell Ali took over last week for the Mavericks, scoring four goals and adding one helper to help Medaille go 2-0 in conference play. He contributed to three of Medaille's five goals against Pitt Bradford Wednesday, while scoring the game-winning goal against La Roche Saturday.
Men's Soccer (Defensive): PS-Behrend D Andrew Mastovich led the Lions defense to three wins this week, including two victories over two of the top teams in the AMCC. He was instrumental in allowing just eight totals shots on goal all week, while he anchored the defense that tallied two shut outs.
Women's Soccer (Offensive): PS-Behrend M Ashlyn Whipple tallied two goals and one assist in a 2-0 week for the Lions. The junior netted the game-winner in the 87th minute to lift Behrend over Mt. Aloysius on Saturday, helping the Lions to clinch the AMCC regular season title and hosting rights for the conference championship. Whipple also added one goal and an assist vs. Hilbert.
Women's Soccer (Defensive): Pitt-Bradford GK Emily Bethel had a perfect week in goal for Pitt-Bradford with a pair of clean sheets in crucial AMCC matches, shutting out Medaille and Pitt-Greensburg. Bethel made 13 total saves -- six against Medaille and seven against Pitt-Greensburg. Bethel's stellar play kept the Panthers' playoff hopes alive as Pitt-Bradford needed to win both games and the offense scored just one goal in each game.
Men's Cross Country: La Roche SO Zach Bauerle ran a 19:46 5K to win the La Roche Invitational and help the Redhawks place first on their home course. Bauerle finished the race in first place out of 17 runners.
Women's Cross Country: Mount Aloysius JR Sarah Courtwright, running in her first race since an early season injury, finished first in the La Roche Invitational with a time of 22:53.32. She averaged a 7:22 mile time in the race.
Women's Volleyball: Franciscan OH Maria Ciola had another impressive week for the Lady Barons as she broke her own single-match kill record with 28 against Penn St.-Altoona and followed it with a 25-kill performance against D'Youville. Ciola averaged 5.30 kills per set this week and added 41 digs for a pair of double-doubles against AMCC teams. Ciola hit .214 for the week and averaged 5.5 points per set.
Women's Tennis: Medaille FR Kristina Hryschuk was huge for the Mavs in their first ever AMCC postseason win over D'Youville College on Sunday. She went 2-0 against the Spartans, including a match clinching 6-2, 2-6, 10-4 tiebreak win in the number four singles spot that earned Medaille a trip to the AMCC Semifinals, their first in program history.
Men's Swimming: PS-Behrend FR Matt Karenbauer had four wins against Alfred State on Saturday, three individual and one relay. he had the top times in the 200 butterfly (2:04.80), 100 butterfly (54.75) and 200 IM (2:08.51). Karenbauer was also apart of the winning 200 medley relay.
Men's Diving: Alfred State SO Austin Miller won both the 1m and 3m diving competition. He scored 218.80 on the 1m and 229.65 on the 3m.
Women's Swimming: Alfred State FR Jessie LaRue was a triple individual event winner in her collegiate debut. She won the 50 free in 25.80, the 100 free in 57.33 and the 200 free in 2:05.28. Her time in the 50 free is a new ASC NCAA era record. She was also part of the meet-clinching winning 200 free relay team that established a new ASC record with a time of 1:46.33
Women's Diving: Alfred State JR Sarah Stevens won both diving events in a tight victory over Behrend. She won the 3m with a score of 190.9 and the 1m with a score of 197.5.
