AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR AUGUST 31-SEPTEMBER 3
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, women's volleyball, men's golf, and women's tennis for the period running from August 31 through September 3.

Men's Golf: PS-Behrend SR Noah Kunst was the individual medalist at the Pitt-Bradford Invitational on Saturday, shooting a two-under par for his first win of the season. Kunst also led the Lions to a first place team finish.
Women's Tennis: D'Youville FR Lauren Karoglan started her career off in impressive fashion this past week. She picked up wins as a singles and doubles player in both matches this weekend, including helping the team pick up their first win in the last two seasons by defeating Penn State-Behrend. She has taken over the top singles and doubles positions as a freshman and taken that responsibility in stride.
Men's Soccer (Offensive): Pitt-Bradford M/F Chase Rider scored his first two goals of his collegiate career against Muskingum to lead the Panthers to a 3-1 win, their first of the season. Rider leads the conference in scoring, and he was the only player in the conference to earn a multi-goal game.
Men's Soccer (Defensive): PS-Behrend GK Chris Ralph posted one shutout over the weekend and helped the Behrend Lions win the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament. Ralph totaled six saves and conceded just one goal in 200:00 minutes for PSB. Penn State Behrend posted a 1-0-1 record this past weekend defeating Houghton 2-1 on Friday and drawing with Geneseo 0-0 in 2OT. Ralph made a diving save in the 107th minute against Geneseo that helped preserve a draw for Behrend.
Women's Soccer (Offensive): Mount Aloysius M Kourtney Walls started off her Mountie career firing with three goals in two games, both Mountie victories. She scored two goals, including the game-winner, in her debut in a 3-0 win over Lycoming on Saturday before scoring the game's opening goal in a 2-1 win over Hood on Sunday.
Women's Soccer (Defensive): Mount Aloysius F Jordan Gebhart, from her defensive center mid position, led a defensive effort that allowed just one goal in two Mountie victories. Gebhart led the defense in a 3-0 shutout over Lycoming on Saturday, and contributed offensively with a header off of a set piece for the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Hood on Sunday.
Women's Volleyball: PS-Behrend S Lexi Irwin tallied a triple-double and two double-doubles in a 2-2 weekend for the Lions. She tallied a career-high 38 assists to go with 13 digs and 10 kills against Oswego. In the win over Buffalo State, Irwin tallied 22 assists and 13 kills. Her final double-double was a 28 assist, 12 dig performance against Morrisville St.
Men's Cross Country: Franciscan SO Liam Galligan led the Barons to their first team meet win since the 2016 season as they took first place in the Westminster College Fisher Invitational. Galligan posted a personal record in an 8K race by six seconds (25:40.20) and was the fastest AMCC runner at the meet by 1:26. He finished second individually out of 73 runners.
Women's Cross Country: PS-Behrend SO Savanna Carr had an outstanding start to her 2018 season, winning the Westminster College Fisher Invitational with an overall time of 23:40.66. Carr placed first out of 104 runners on Friday and she finished a full 15 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Penn State Behrend placed third as a team at the invite.
