Members of Penn State Altoona’s Student-Athlete Advisory
Council spearheaded a campus collection effort last week that
yielded 230 pairs of shoes to benefit the local
“Soles4Souls” shoe drive.
On Thursday, February 27, members of SAAC and Penn State Altoona
Director of Athletics Fredina M. Ingold officially donated bags and
boxes of shoes to John Myers and Larry Sprankle of Lasser’s
Shoe Fly to aid the Soles4Souls cause.
Soles4Souls is a global non-profit institution that is dedicated to fighting the devastating impact and perpetuation of poverty. The organization has donated more than 25 million shoes to over 100 countries worldwide. The Altoona store Lasser’s Shoe Fly has been collecting shoes to donate to Soles4Souls, and Penn State Altoona’s SAAC chipped in by gathering new and used shoes.
