PSA'S BATRUS NAMED AMCC REPRESENTATIVE FOR NCAA WOMAN OF THE YEAR
Penn State Altoona women's volleyball player Anna Batrus has been named the AMCC representative of the NCAA Woman of the Year Award, marking the first time the Altoona campus has had an athlete earn this distinction.
Penn State Altoona women's volleyball player Anna Batrus has been named the AMCC representative of the NCAA Woman of the Year Award, marking the first time the Altoona campus has had an athlete earn this distinction.
Batrus graduated from Penn State Altoona in May 2025 with a 3.96 GPA in Management and Marketing, while also picking up a minor in Entrepreneurship. She is a four-time member of the AMCC Academic All-Conference Team and a four-time AMCC Peak Performer. She earned a spot on the Dean's List all eight semesters and was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society for College Athletes. She is also a member of the Sigma Beta Delta Business Honors Society and was the 2021 Penn State Altoona President's Award recipient. Batrus was the nominated president of the Penn State Altoona Sheetz Fellows Program and is a two-time College Sports Communicators (CSC) NCAA Division III Academic All-District honoree.
Athletically, Batrus is a two-time AMCC first team all-conference selection and an eight-time AMCC Defensive Player of the Week. She finished her career fifth in Penn State Altoona history in digs per set (4.58) and is tied for seventh for total digs (1,213). She was a member of the 2023 and 2024 AMCC champion women's volleyball team. She was awarded the the Penn State Altoona Women's Volleyball Coach's Award in 2023 and was named the Penn State Altoona Most Valuable Player in 2024.
Batrus has also been very involved in the Penn State Altoona local community. She served on the PSA Athletics move-in day crew for four years, assisting first year students move into their dorms. Batrus has also assisted with other local organizations, such as the 28th Street Church, the Hollidaysburg Book Sale, Sweat 4 Vets, the Blair County Food Drive, the Nehemiah Project, and the Ronald McDonald Golf Tournament. Within these organizations, she has volunteered her time organizing food for local food pantries, has helped organize and sell books for a local library fundraiser, packed backpacks filled with food for kids in need, and assisted runners and served as a course leader for a local Veterans Day race. She has also volunteered her time with a local faith-based community development organization committed to assisting underprivileged and blighted neighborhoods. Additionally, Batrus has also volunteered her time assisting with multiple sporting events and teams, such as the Nittany Lion Recruiting Showcase, the junior high Penn State Altoona volleyball camp where she served as a camp counselor, and the Penn State Altoona men's volleyball team where she served as a volunteer scorekeeper.
Batrus is currently pursuing her master's degree in strategic leadership at St. Francis University in Loretto, PA.
