The AMCC is still loud, proud and positive but in 2019 we will begin celebrating GameDay the D3 Way.
The conference is using a combination of signage, announcements, giveaways and staff training to demonstrate its commitment to a game day experience that is fun, safe and respectful.
The AMCC Presidents Council endorsed the new fan sportsmanship campaign at their May 2018 meeting. The conference's "Be Loud, Be Proud, Be Positive" campaign is officially retired, after being adopted by Division III as its national slogan ten years ago.
Every member institution has received new venue signage with the "Fun, Safe, Respectful" messaging. The pre-game announcement for all contests will invite family, friends and fans to join us in this initiative. Spectators as well as student-athletes will receive laptop stickers promoting the effort.
AMCC Commissioner Donna Ledwin and Medaille College Associate Athletic Director Laura Edholm participated in the Division III GameDay training program that was co-sponsored by the Disney Institute in 2018. Ledwin and Edholm are developing a customized training program that they will implement with all event management staff at each member institution in 2019.
"Our goal is for all of our members to approach 'game day' with the same, common purpose," said Ledwin. The Div. III GameDay Working Group has defined the purpose as follows:
"We create a respectful and engaging educational environment through athletics, for everyone."
Added Ledwin: "If we agree to follow the same common purpose, and support it with the same standards, rules and behaviors, the GameDay experience is going to be that much better for everyone. Fun, safe and respectful--that's our goal."
