PITT-GREENSBURG'S RUHLMAN EARNS SECOND PLAYER OF THE YEAR HONORS

Pitt-Greensburg sophomore standout Emily Ruhlman is now a two-time AMCC Player of the year for women’s tennis in the #1 Singles spot. Ruhlman is yet to lose a set in her time in the AMCC, going 3-0 this season. She battled a foot injury this season, keeping her out of competition for the final month of the season, however, the coaches of the AMCC saw enough in her three conference appearances to give her the nod. Ruhlman even won the set that he injury occurred in, during a key seeding match against Penn State Behrend in September.  Overall, Ruhlman went 5-0 on the season for the Bobcats in the team’s #1 spot. Ruhlman and Abigail Rosman also went 3-0 in conference play in the #2 doubles spot, which they were named first-team all-conference for their efforts there, as well. As Ruhlman continues to heal, her sights will be set on the NCAA Tournament in May where the Bobcats will make their first appearance in program history.  

AMCC Newcomer of the Year honors goes to Pitt-Greensburg's Amber Sterrett. Sterrett went 9-3 overall, 6-0 in conference, and was named first-team all-conference in the No. 5 singles spot. Sterrett was a key piece to leading the Bobcats to its first-ever AMCC Tournament Title after clinching the regular season title for the second consecutive year. Sterrett was also part of multiple duos that went a combined 5-0 in AMCC play. Sterrett was part of the Bobcat team that stepped up huge and was very versatile due to injuries to inside the team.

Pitt-Greensburg head coach Doug Smeltzer and Penn State Behrend's Jeff Barger have been tabbed as Co-Coaches of the Year. Smelter led the Bobcats to a 6-0 record in regular season play, as well as Pitt-Greensburg's first women's tennis title in program history. Barger guided the Lions to a 5-1 regular season record and a runner-up finish in the conference tournament.
