LA ROCHE WINS 11TH AMCC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
La Roche University won their 11th AMCC women's basketball title on Saturday afternoon with a 67-55 victory over the top seed, and hosts, Penn State Behrend.

Despite the Behrend Lions scoring the first four points of the game, it was the La Roche Redhawks who controlled the majority of the first quarter. After going down 4-0 after the jump ball, La Roche went on a 16-2 run for a 10 point advantage with 2:55 to play in the opening frame. Behrend finished the quarter with a 6-1 run of their own, as La Roche held on to a 17-12 lead after one.
The Redhawks continued to control the game in the second quarter, going up by as many at 17 points on a Breanna Clemmons free throw with 2:40 to play in the half. A 7-0 run by the Lions brought them back within 10 points, until J'La Kizart grabbed an offensive rebound for La Roche and converted on the put-back as time expired to give the Redhawks a 35-23 advantage at the half. Jazmine Dunn led all scorers in the first half with 15 points.
Behrend came out of the locker room on fire, outscoring La Roche 16-3 in the first six minutes of the third quarter, as the Lions took a 39-38 lead on a Rachel Majewski layup with just under four minutes to play in the quarter. The teams exchanged baskets for the final minutes, with Behrend clinging to a 43-42 lead heading into the final quarter.
La Roche's Dasja Anderson started things off in the fourth quarter wtih a made layup to regain the lead and the Redhawks never looked back again, as they went on to outscore the Lions 25-12 in the fourth and setting the final score at 67-55.
Dunn led all scorers with 26 points while Anderson added 16 points and six rebounds.
Leading the Behrend Lions was Morgan Altavilla who paced her team with 16 points with Madilyn Boyer contibuting 14 points and seven boards.
La Roche will earn the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, with pairings being announced on Monday.
