AMCC Women's Basketball Game of the Week:
Mount Aloysius College (2-1) @ Hilbert College (3-0)
Saturday, December 8 at 1:00 p.m.
The AMCC women's basketball game of the week is a rematch of the 2018 AMCC women's championship game which featured the Hilbert College Hawks and the Mount Aloysius College Mounties. The Mounties are looking for a different outcome this time around, as the Hawks ran away with the 2018 title in a 76-52 victory.
After a slow start, the Lady Mounties have won two in a row in AMCC play. They are led by a strong backcourt. Junior guard Lea Sammarco is averaging 19 points per game in conference play while shooting 57% from the field and 52% from three. Sophomore guard Machala Gibbons has scored 12 points per game against AMCC opponents while compiling a 7.0 assist to turnover ratio in that span.
Hilbert has rattled off six consecutive wins and enters the game with a perfect 3-0 record in conference play. The Hawks continue to rely on its roster depth in 2018-19. They average 62.4 points per game, shoot the ball at a .399 clip and hold a +2.8 rebound per game advantage over opponents. A trio of juniors carry the offensive punch as 5-10 guard Taylor Corts leads the way with 16.7 ppg (6.3 rpg). 5-11 forward Ashley Repine chips in 13.3 ppg (7.1 rpg) and 5-6 guard Emily Gawlak adds 11 ppg (3.6 assists and 2.5 steals per game). 6-2 senior F Katelyn Proy is just shy of averaging a double-double with 10.7 ppg and 9.7 rpg (2.7 bpg) and 5-1 junior guard Demi Battin quarterbacks the team with 3.8 assists per game.
