AMCC ANNOUNCES MEN'S LACROSSE ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
Pitt-Bradford freshman attack Ben Byers has been named the AMCC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year.
Pitt-Bradford freshman attack Ben Byers has been named the AMCC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year. Byers led the Panthers to a 2-1 AMCC record and a 5-7 overall mark in their first competitive season. He was second in the AMCC in goals (34), points (44), shots (115), and shots on goal (75). He was ninth in shot percentage at 29.6% and put 65.2% of his shots on target. He also collected 39 ground balls and forced 10 turnovers.
Alfred State College freshman long stick midfielder Brady Nugent and Hilbert College senior goalkeeper Griffin Miller have been tabbed as AMCC Co-Defensive Players of the Year.
Nugent finished the overall season second in ground balls (1st for LSM) and first for caused turnovers, while finishing with one goal and two assists. In conference play, Nugent finished first in caused turnovers and third for ground balls (first for LSM), while recording one assist.
Miller finished the regular season second in the nation in save percentage (.660) and 26th nationally in saves per game (14.27) with an impressive 157 saves while allowing just 81 goals. He earned AMCC Defensive Player of the Week honors three times this season. He eclipsed the 500 career save mark and led the nation second ranked man-down unit, killing off 89.1% of their opponents man-up opportunities.
Alfred State freshman attack Griffin Doan has been named the AMCC Newcomer of the Year. Overall, Doan led the conference in both assists and points with a dominating lead in both, third for goals, third in ground balls (1st for attackmen), eighth in caused turnovers (1st for attackmen), and first in man-up goals. In conference play, Doan led the conference in both assists and points, was second in goals scored, third in caused turnovers (1st for attackmen), second in ground balls (1st for attackmen), first in man-up goals, and first in shots on goal.
Coach of the Year honors goes to Alfred State head coach Ethan Thomson. Thomson led the Pioneers to a 9-6 overall record and a 3-0 record in conferece play. The Pioneers won both the regular season and conference tournament titles.
