The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's and women's basketball, swimming and diving, men's volleyball, and women's bowling for the period running from January 29-February 4, 2018.

Men's Basketball: Hilbert G Antonio Alvarez shot the lights out this past week, as he went 17-for-18 from three-point range, for an astounding 94%. The freshman led the Hawks to a 2-0 record, averaging 31.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, scoring a career-high 34 points in the win over D'Youville and adding 29 points against Pitt-Greensburg. Alvarez went 10-for-11 from long range against the Spartans before connecting on all seven from downtown against the Panthers. The 6'3" guard shot 77.8 percent from the field last week and currently ranks second in the AMCC with a 42.7 shooting percentage from behind the arc.

Women's Basketball: Hilbert G Emily Gawlak averaged 15.5 points over a two game span for the Hawks, shooting 40% from 3-point range. The 5'6" guard also averaged 13 rebounds a game, while pulling down a game high 17 rebounds Saturday against Pitt-Greensburg. Gawlak also came up with five steals and added six assists in the two games. The sophomore has helped lead the Hawks to their best season in program history with 18 wins overall and 15 in conference play, while clinching one of the top two spots in league standings. 

Men's Volleyball: D'Youville OH Pat Stroh had another solid week for the Spartans. In the Spartans' lone match of the week, Stroh led the team over Hiram with 13 kills, six digs, and tied for the team lead in blocks with four. He added one service ace in the match. Stroh is currently leads the AMCC in kills/set (4.12), is second in kills (136), and is third in hitting percentage (.307). He leads D'Youville in kills, kills/set, and service aces/set and is second in digs, digs/set, and hitting percentage.

Women's Bowling: Medaille FR Carla Hansen continued her dominant play last week, helping the Mavs go 2-1 against D-II squad Daemen College. Hansen averaged an impressive 207 in the team format portion, bowling a team-best 215 after knocking down 199 in the first match. In the Baker match she was just as impressive, knocking down 157 pins in eight frames for a 19.6 average in the win.
