AMCC Men's Basketball Game of the Week:
Mount Aloysius College @ Franciscan University
Wednesday, February 14 at 6:00 p.m.
The AMCC is entering the final week of the regular season, which means teams are making their last push to move up in league standings, and for some, to earn their spot in the postseason tournament. Mount Aloysius College (5-18, 5-11 AMCC) currently sits in sixth place, the final playoff spot, however Franciscan University (5-18, 4-12, AMCC) is right on their heels in the seventh spot and still has the opportunity to earn that final playoff berth. Pitt-Greensburg (6-16, 4-12 AMCC), tied with Franciscan for seventh, and D'Youville College (6-16, 3-13 AMCC) in eighth place also remain as bubble teams with the potential of breaking into the sixth place spot. The Mounties will be traveling to Steubenville, OH on Wednesday evening to take on the Barons in the AMCC Game of the Week.
Sophomore guard Julian Stover leads the Mounties, and is ranked fifth in the conference in scoring, with 15.0 points per game. Freshman forward Tommy Pisula is tied for third with 7.3 rebounds per game while shooting over 50% from the floor. Other Mounties scoring in double figures include junior guard Josiah Jones (11.3 ppg) and junior guard/forward Ramel Stephens (10.0 ppg).
Sophomore center Matt Trent is the lone Baron to average double digits with 10.0 points per game, while also leading the team with 9.4 rebounds per game. Junior forward Juwan Perkins adds 9.3 points per game, with Keoni Sablan and Sean Hickey chipping in 8.5 and 8.4, respectively.
