AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR SEPTEMBER 5-10

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, women's volleyball, men's golf, and women's tennis for the period running from September 1 through September 4.

Women's Volleyball: Mount Aloysius MH Sarah Fisher led the Mounties last week with a .355 hitting percentage, 46 kills (3.54 kills per set), and five total blocks for an average of 3.8 points per set. Fisher ranks in the top two in the AMCC in kills per set (2.96), total kills (77) and hitting percentage (.327). 

Men's Golf: Medaille SR Corey Donoghue continued his strong start to 2017 with a 1st place finish in the Medaille College Invitational last week. Corey shot a (74), earning him individual honors by two strokes while also helping Medaille earn 1st place as a team as well. For Donoghue it was his second consecutive top five finish to start his 2017 campaign.

Women's Tennis: Medaille SR Cho Thiri Tun had arguably the greatest week of her career, going undefeated in both singles and doubles play. Tun went 3-0 in the number five singles position, defeating all three conference foes in straight sets. In number three doubles she was even better with her partner, surrendering just five points going 3-0 and capping a 6-0 week. The senior also led her team to flawless 3-0 week in conference play.

Women's Soccer (Offensive): PS-Behrend F Amanda Donohue tallied a goal in each game this week coming off the bench, including two game winners, to help the Lions post a 2-1 record. She netted the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Case Western on Wednesday, before scoring the only goal against Owsego on Friday. Dononue then tallied the eventual game winner against Fredonia. For the week, Donohue scored three goals, including two game-winners, while being named to the all-tournament team at the Blue Devil Classic.

Women's Soccer (Defensive): Pitt-Bradford GK Sarah Dailey made 24 saves this week. She also earned a pair of clean sheets in the Panthers' first two wins of the season. In Saturday's 1-0 win, she saved five shots while stopping eight in a 4-0 win over Keuka. Her save percentage for the week was .857.

Men's Soccer (Offensive): Franciscan F Leo Herrmann led the Barons to a 2-1 week, including an explosive 7-5 win over Muskingum on Sunday. For the week, Herrmann scored four goals and handed out three assists, including two goals and two assists on Sunday. The senior was 2-2 on penalty kicks and scored the game-winning goal in the Barons' 3-2 comeback win over Waynesburg. He currently leads the conference with five goals and is second with three assists. 

Men's Soccer (Defensive): Pitt-Bradford GK Derrick Brock was the bright spot for the Panthers last week, despite an 0-3 week as a team. Brock saved 25 shots in goal, while his 41 total saves on the year lead the AMCC. In Friday's 1-0 loss, he posted a .929 save percentage, as he made 13 total saves. For the week, he posted a .806 save percentage. 

Women's Cross Country: Franciscan FR Morgan Litterer was the top Franciscan runner at the Bethany College Invitational, completing the 6K course in 28:41 and finishing in 63rd place.

Men's Cross Country: Franciscan FR Mark Borek was the lone Baron runner at the Bethany College Invitational, taking eighth overall, and was the fastest AMCC runner at the race. Borek completed the 8K course in 27:12.
