OVER 70 PITT-BRADFORD STUDENT-ATHLETES PARTICIPATE IN WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES EVENT

Over 70 student-athletes from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford participated in the annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event Thursday.

The event is hosted by YWCA Bradford's Victims' Resource Center to raises awareness of sexual violence.

It is marketed as a men's event, encouraging men to walk a mile around Downtown Bradford wearing high heels, but all are encouraged to attend and participate.

YWCA Bradford hosts the annual event each April as part of the recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Because of the large contingent of student-athletes and Pitt-Bradford staff members in attendance, the Panthers were awarded 2018 Largest Team award.

Raising awareness of sexual violence is just one branch of YWCA Bradford's mission, which is, "YWCA Bradford is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all."
